The band program at SHS is all-inclusive, composed of winds, percussion, and guard, with the concert ensembles, Wind Ensemble & Symphonic Band, being the foundation of the SHS Band Program.
The many other varied ensembles and music classes, including the marching band, jazz bands, indoor guard, indoor percussion, and pit band support, enhance, supplement, and are a part of the co-curricular band experience. Becasue we build from the core of the program out, students must be enrolled in a performance class to participate in the other ensembles. Some exceptions exist but only in certain circumstances. The bottom line is that our students are getting a complete and comprehensive expereince when they are involved in the band program at SHS!!

The SHS Band Program has a unique philosophy for rehearsal, performance, and the organization as a whole. It is simply stated: Be Your Best Success! As we measure it, our 'Best Success" is striving to be the best we possibly can, every day, every rehearsal, and every performance. With positive attitude, solid work ethic, effective communication, strong commitment, and teamwork we will achieve new heights personally, with others, and as a program. We will always strive to make our rehearsals and performances better than the day before and work to create a strong, healthy, and successful band family. Being your best is a measurement of success that can be achieved by everyone. |
